Professional Summary
Hello, I am Lumari Pardo-Rodriguez or you could also call me Lumari Pardo.
I am a Geographer that started working with climate change issues after living 21 years on a Caribbean island that was experiencing an increase in weather-related events. My experience started with mathematics and atmospheric sciences; eventually, transitioning into impact-oriented projects at the nexus of public policy, social, and climate science. After graduating my PhD, I worked as a Research Faculty at the University of Colorado-Boulder for the Sustainability Innovation Lab at Colorado (SILC). Here, I worked as a lead instructor for fieldwork campaigns relating to Food-Water-Energy Nexus in Urban Environment and traveled to 8 transdisciplinary projects in 4 countries during the year at this position. After years of working with numerous transdisciplinary projects and fieldwork campaigns, I decided to leave academia and move into the business sector, following a need to be involved in more impact-oriented projects.
Currently, I am managing a portfolio of GHG emission reduction projects covering over a dozen US states and US territories. Working with unregulated companies in the mining, agriculture, chemical, and forestry industries to generate voluntary emission reductions. I collaborate in the design, development, and implementation of projects, including field-level project implementation. Safeguarding that voluntary offset projects are in accordance with internationally recognized measurement standards (American Carbon Registry, California ARB, etc.). Furthermore, I manage the validation and verification processes for the projects. Besides these tasks, I contribute to business development by producing proposals, finding new opportunities, and establishing relationships with potential clients. Including background research and data analysis. And working on expanding my horizon in sustainability and climate change mitigation.
This website is mainly focus on my research and teaching experiences but in a future I plan to update it to reflect my current endeavors in Climate Change Mitigation in the private sector.
